This Wednesday 18th of June the second round of Degree Shows at my uni, Central Saint Martins, starts. I've seen the making of wonderful exhibitions to be like MA Narrative Environments, MA Architecture and MA Textile Futures and I cannot wait to have a proper look when they're ready. My course, MA Innovation Management, had also been working hard to put together a great conference night that will be the opening of our show.

Our lecturers will be Susie McKenna, Director of Hackney Empire, Dr. Carl Reynolds founder of the NHS Hack Days and Indy Saha, Director of Creative Strategy at Google Creative Labs. You can also have a look at all the students projects, the insights and opportunities for innovation we discover during of our final dissertation process (warm up with the articles in our website). I (Ana) will be there, as well as a lot of nice collaborators of the Procrastinator: Marie, Rita, Kerilyn & Jonny.

All the info of our show Exploiting Chaos: Innovation in the Making is available in our website. Tickets are now sold out, but most probably if you want to have a look (and a drink) the night of the 18th you should definitely come along around 7:30! (:

This is the moment we've been waiting and working for several months now, come and share our happiness and exhaustion with us!

In psfk we found this cool article about a device that enables people to listen colours. "Our eyes differentiate colors by picking up on various light frequencies, but for people who are born with achromatopsia, color needs to be translated into sound before they can experience the vivid world around them. Christopher Yamen’s “Wasiliscope” is the newest device that lets people “hear” colors, representing modern technological improvements that are benefiting human cyborgs who are color-handicapped in life." Calling all cyborgs! We've just found out about this event Human 2.0 - Technologies of Enhancement. It looks definitely interesting and it's happening next week. "Since the turn of the 20th Century human enhancements and augmentations have been increasingly aestheticised and fetishised by medium of Science Fiction. But only in the last two decades are we beginning to encounter tangible advances that could be leveraged towards the project of dramatically altering the human condition." OUR WEEKLY PROCRASTINATION

Last week we attended the Second Edition of Sunday Papers Live. It was an interesting proposal: a day-long event, wrapped up in a newspaper format with a touch of Sunday laziness. There was food, loads of carpets, sofas, blankets, tea, cider, walks, fire, and really nice talks on each of the newspapers major topics: sports, art, books, politics, and even a crossword with clues performed live (photo 2). Two of the most interesting speakers of the day were Maajid Nawaz (UK News) and Jon Snow (World News).

Nawaz shared with us his (amazingly interesting) story and some interesting thoughts about, religion, extremism, democracy and the importance of (not listening to Russell Brand and) voting. Jon Snow, exalted what a great moment we are living, technology/communications/information wise. "It's a golden age for journalism and it's a golden age to be a journalist" he said. It doesn't really matter if the big news chains are cutting down budgets and heads, because it's up to us, empowered by technology to keep observing, researching, producing and sharing information.

I think that is a fantastic, incredible positive thought, and I really hope he's right. Meanwhile we will carry on and try to make our shared procrastination as meaningful as we can.

PS. In (un?)related news, you should read Martin Robbins's article How Jon Snow dissing the PlayStation 4 explains why no one cares you can't afford a house in the New Stateman that shows how traditional media is biased towards men over 50. "We live in a society where asking people over 65 to wait a couple of years to receive their free money from the state is a major political issue, but a party can casually talk about stripping welfare from under 25s as though they're somehow children - after all, you'd never see one on Question Time." You have until the 6th of October to have a look at Gerald Cinamon: Collected work since 1958 at the ICA. A selection of designs by award-winning typographer and book designer Gerald (Jerry) Cinamon, who started working at Penguin in 1958. "The display reveals the influence of Swiss design on his work, which was unique and forward thinking during this period of popular book publishing. Cinamon produced work using bold colour and iconic typography creating signature works that defined his distinct style." More info in ICA website.

This Thursday 3rd of October Lomography UK’s will be starting its First Thrusdays event in the Whitechapel Gallery, featuring work by Cachetejack, a Spanish illustration duo who have recently moved to London. They combine drawings, wood sculptures and fabric to create playful and humorous illustrations. Some of their clients include Anorak magazine, Don’t Panic and Computer Arts magazine. On your bike! From the 3rd to the 6th of October is all about bicycles in the Barbican Centre. The Festival includes an opening party at Hackney Downs Studios on the 4th October and all these movies. More info in Cycle Love website.
